Jean Immerwahr’s Cabbage Bajhi

Serves 4

Time: 15 minutes

1/2 lb cabbage, shredded (1 small head)

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tbsp oil

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp turmeric


1.  Heat oil in large frypan, add mustard seeds, cover pan quickly.  Shake until they stop popping.

2.  Add turmeric and red chili powder, cooking a minute.

3.  Add cabbage, mix well.  Cook until just tender, stirring occasionally.

4.  Stir in sugar, lemon juice, and garam masala.  Cook one minute.  Serve hot.

A delicious light meal when served with yogurt and chapatis.

1/2 tsp sugar

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp garam masala (optional)
