Jean Immerwahr’s Meat Balls (Kooftah)
 
 

Serves 6

Time: 45 minutes


1 1/2 lb ground beef

1 egg

1 tsp garam masala

salt to taste

2 tbsp oil

3 med onions

1” piece ginger root, minced

1.  Mix together meat, egg, garam masala and salt.  Roll into balls the size of a small egg. Dust lightly with flour.


2.  Heat oil in large saucepan and fry meat balls until nicely brown.  Drain and keep aside.


3.  Heat oil again and fry onions; add garlic, giner, turmeric and red chili powder.  Cook 2 or 3 minutes.


4.  Add tomato, yogurt, meat balls and hot water.  Cook uncovered until sauce thickens.

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup tomatoes, cut up

1 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp red chili powder

2 tbsp yogurt

1/2 cup hot water

chopped parsley.
